Microdermabrasion works on all skin types and colors. It makes subtle changes, causing no skin color change or scarring. It is not effective for deeper problems such as scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, or deep acne scars. With microdermabrasion, there is less down time than with dermabrasion. Skin is temporarily pink but fully recovers within 24 hours. It doesn’t require surgery or anesthetics. That may help people who cannot take down time for healing.

  •  In microdermabrasion, tiny crystals are sprayed onto the skin to gently remove the outer layer of your skin. This technique is less aggressive than dermabrasion, so you don’t need numbing medicine. It is basically an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure that leaves skin looking softer and brighter.

After microdermabrasion, your skin will be pink and feel dry and tight (like sunburn or windburn) for about 24 hours. Use moisturizer. Some types of makeup should not be applied for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

  • Anyone  of any color from the age of 12 to the age of 65 can get microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion may be very useful for people with active (having lots of red pimples), mild (having lots of red pimples) area of bad or undesirable color, pick marks, and very shallow or raised (having lots of red pimples) scars. Skin doctors use microdermabrasion to help unclog pores and clear (having lots of red pimples). Often used in combination with gentle glycolic peels and medical (having lots of red pimples) extractions, microderm can help speed up (having lots of red pimples) clearing.

People with deeper (having lots of red pimples) scars might be candidates for surgical skin-sanding or laser resurfacing.
Can microdermabrasion help with melasma?
Yes, microderm can be helpful in treating melasma and other types of hyperpigmentation. Best melasma treatment might usually include (every two weeks) or monthly microderm combined with glycolic acid peels, fading creams like hydroquinone 4%, and daily sunscreens. Multiple treatments in combination with sunscreen and sun avoidance and other creams help produce best results, although permanent improvement is not to be expected.
